Masterclasses are a great way to get everyone together and provide them with a common aim and new learning experience – naturally we specialise in the Cocktail Masterclass variety, and our mixologists take great pride in showing off their cocktail making skills! Our cocktail masterclasses are usually held at a venue of your choosing, with Aveqia London proving very popular, but this time around it was the Lancaster Hotel, London. The cocktail masterclass was for arranged for 40 guests of a corporate client, and the theme of the moment once again was 007, James Bond.
In keeping with the theme all of our mixologists and flair bartenders were dressed head to toe in black tie and the cocktails chosen for the event weren’t just any old selection, as you can imagine. Once again in keeping with the theme, all of the cocktails were James Bond related. The three cocktails that the group were shown how to make were the famous Vodka Martini, as well as the Americano (as seen in A View to a Kill and Casino Royale), and the Mojito (Featured in Die Another Day, pictured below:).
Not only were our guests shown how to make these three fantastic cocktails, but also we explain the history behind these drinks, their origins and how they featured in the Bond films, as well as a number of opportunities to make their own, and let’s not forget tasting them! Some of our flair bartenders even threw in a few flair tricks too, although these were less successfully imitated by our guests! Many were surprised however when it came to teaching the best way to make a Vodka Maritni, that in fact it should be stirred, not shaken! A Vodka Martini is a very fragile cocktail, a vigorous shake will ruin the flavour – so we are not quite sure what James is doing, although he is still James Bond, of course we wont argue!
