Scotland, the land of exquisite natural beauty, the home of tartan, whiskey, golf and haggis – to name only but a few. Scotland has seen the birth to many glorious inventions and creations, including the telephone, the toaster and the flushing toilet! And now, the Scottish themed mobile bar!
Tartan however is perhaps what Scotland is known best for, exported around the world the intricate pattern of criss-crossed horizontal and vertical coloured lines is originally how each different clan in Scotland would mark their identity. Although it is sometimes referred to as plaid in America. The kilt, part of the Scottish national identity will nearly always be decorated in a tartan, usually the tartan of the clan of the wearer.
We were recently called in for a private New Year’s party in the Cobham area of Surrey, where the entire theme was to be Scottish. The client was Scottish and naturally wanted the theme to incorporate the clan’s tartan somewhere, and where better than on the front of the mobile bar?
After discovering which Tartan was associated with the guest’s clan, our in house design team then carefully created the new front to the mobile bar – and with the backlit LED panels behind, it really makes the tartan look fantastic! (see below).
We even went to the extraordinary lengths of hiring a native Scotsman as the mixologist and bartender for the evening! Well actually, if truth be told, he is one of our top mixologists so we didn’t have to go very far to find him, although he is actually Scottish! Albeit this wasn’t a necessity for the guests but they did let us know that they enjoyed this little touch.
In addition to our Scottish themed mobile bar and professional mixologist we were also asked to put together a bespoke cocktail menu exclusively for the party guests, here are some of the cocktails that the guests opted for on the menu:
