As we have spoken about before, we are very lucky here at Ace Bar Events to have one of the founders of the World Flair Association as our Director, this allows us access to an unrivalled knowledge on bartending and flair bartending in particular as well as some of the world’s best flair bartenders for events. In recognition of this accreditation our director Andy Collinson was invited to Mumbai, India to provide a seminar at the popular Mixology Flair Camp. Featuring industry discussions around cocktail innovation, bar ethics, product inspiration and the growing demand of flair bartending in India the Mixology Flair Camp provides a full crash course for experienced and beginner bartenders alike.
In addition to a seminar from Andy, there was also a panel discussion involving some of the world and India’s most experienced hospitality industry professionals including Tom Dyer, Ami Shroff, Dimitri Leziniska, Artem Klymenko and Vikram Achanta. Although flair bartending and bartending in general may seem like a simple topic, understanding when and how to use flair during service, whether your event is right for a flair bartender or a mixology specialist can be make or break for an event.
The seminar took place at the Marriott Hotel in Mumbai to a room of around 250 bartenders, industry and events professionals. Flair bartending on the face of it can be a great addition to an event, it will enhance the guests experience, provide entertainment and bolster the guests experience – providing talking points for long after the event and therefore encouraging word of mouth marketing. On the other hand it does also have the potential to annoy guests and cause event organisers an unneeded headache, this is where a good understanding of flair bartending, how and when to use it behind the bar can come in very handy. This is partly down to flair bartenders themselves but also the event organiser or supervisor of the flair bartenders. Thanks to our association with the WFA we are able to cherry pick the world’s best flair bartenders for use at our client’s events, this means all of them will be well versed in the do’s and don’ts of flair bartending at events. The key is to ensure that when the bar is particularly busy and the guests want drinks fast, to give it to them. This is where the use of minimal flair comes in, ensuring that the guests drink is served quickly but also with style. All of our flair bartenders are understanding of the importance of reading the crowd, another of the key talking points in Andy’s seminar. Knowing how to read the crowd and when they are in the mood for a spectacle or just want a good drink, fast, is hugely important to ensuring high guest satisfaction at an event – a key responsibility of any event company such as ours.
If you are interested in having Andy provide a seminar on flair bartending, hiring any of our flair bartenders or mixologists for an event, or anything else – then please do not hesitate to drop us a line.
