The Great British Pub Themed Mobile Bar
The main event was the DFS Annual Conference 2015, hosted by Manchester based production company, The Fresh Group. The focus of the event was to provide a clear and concise business and strategic update for their 400 salespeople and managers, head office staff and senior management team and to include a cultural programme plus a prestigious gala dinner and awards night. The conference was also designed with a national roadshow in mind, which was to follow the event for all salespeople and managers across all their stores nationwide and for the first time included their head office in Doncaster.
DFS also finalised their recent sponsorship with Team GB weeks before the event and wanted a special moment they could weave into the existing programme to launch the partnership with their store managers for the first time. Here at Ace Bar Events we were drafted in by the Fresh Group to take on the conference afterparty for 400+ guests.
With DFS now sponsoring Team GB the afterparty naturally took place in the home of one of our most successful disciplines at the 2012 games, the Velodrome in the Olympic Park. The theme of the event was inherently British, celebrating British culture in fantastic style and comfort! As a result our in-house design team put together a fantastic new facade for one of our mobile bar’s – making it look very much like a traditional British pub themed mobile bar – we even named our themed pub – the Golden Lion!
We were asked by the Fresh Group to provide full event support, which meant arrangement and organisation of the afterparty, provision of the mobile bar, beverages, back of house support, and staff. We were asked to design some themed drinks for the event and came up with our own range of Great British Cocktails: Essentially anything with Gin, elderflower, fresh British raspberries and apples, as well as a British-Colada – in our nod to the British Virgin Isles! The Golden Lion pub was set up in the centre section of the Velodrome, in amongst the oval track, which proved to be a fantastic setting. Amongst the guests there were also guest speakers such as Lord Coe himself who orated a fantastic ‘Will to Win’ speech, which embodied the feel of the entire day. Overall the event was a fantastic success, typically our flair bar staff went down well – as did our mixologists’ Great British Cocktails – they also went down very fast!
