Recently we were involved in a fantastic guest experience, a prohibition themed event for a private client. Based in Surrey, Esher, this fabulous speakeasy event had it all from a secret marquee to cocktails served in tea pots and tea cups and of course flair bartenders dressed appropriately!
The roaring Twenties was a simpler time, an era of fine clothing, gentlemanly banter and alcohol smuggling that flew in the face of harsh prohibition laws in the USA. A lot of people when asked about the 1920s have a rather fairytale view, seeing it as a highly desirable, dignified decade to be living. We say, why simply wish you were there? Why not throw your own prohibition party with the help of Ace Bar Events?
There are a few rules to a prohibition party however, to do it properly you of course need to at least meet the dress code. There are other things which typify this time also, such as alcoholic drinks being served in vessels that would not draw unwanted attention, such as tea cups, and a secretive or hidden bar.
The period of prohibition was typified by secrecy. As drinking alcohol or being found with alcohol could land you in a prison, it was no laughing matter. Consider approaching your prohibition themed event a little differently to other events, carving out an air of mystery and excitement. Perhaps keep it off social media for example – take it to the next step and write out paper invitations in a 1920s style. Paper invitations certainly have novelty value in this digital world in which we live. Most importantly though, keep it quiet from the cops!
Along with our speakeasy mobile bar, we also supplied a prohibition themed event brick backdrop and of course our fantastically dressed flair bartenders, which you can see above. At this speakeasy event we did our best to fulfil the prohibition theme serving a range of cocktails and drinks you would expect to see during this era such as the Earl Grey Old Fashioned, Mint Julep, Gin Rickey and of course the good old fashioned gin and tonic.
If you are interested in our prohibition themed event, speakeasy mobile bar, flair bartender hire or anything else – then please do not hesitate to get in contact.
